Pastor Kirk Flaa, Senior Pastor

Pastor Kirk Flaa was born in Atchison, Kansas to parents Bryan and Bonnie Flaa. Kirk attended grade school in both Kearney, Missouri and Waterford, Wisconsin before moving to the family farm near Galchutt, North Dakota, a community south of Fargo. He attended high school in Colfax, North Dakota and in 1985 graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and Coaching Certification.
He married Gloria Schock of Wishek, North Dakota in 1987, and has been blessed of God with 20 years of marriage and two wonderful sons, Eli and Elliot. It was in 1993 that Kirk came to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and is most thankful for the gracious truth of Scripture, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Prior to sensing God's call to parish ministry Kirk was employed as a territory manager for a Sioux Falls wholesale tire company for 15 years. Kirk served his home congregation, Abiding Savior Free Lutheran in many capacities, including serving as a deacon for 6 years. In 2003 Kirk and his family moved to Minneapolis to attend the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary. Upon completion of his internship at Fox River Lutheran Church in Norway, Illinois and seminary graduation in May of 2007, Pastor Kirk and his family returned to Sioux Falls in August of 2007 where he is blessed to serve as Senior Pastor for the congregation of Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church.
Pastor Kirk notes "how blessed it is to wait upon the Lord" and how "perfectly He provisions those that seek Him". To God be the glory!
